Huawei introduces Flex:ai software tech to enhance AI chip
On November 21, Huawei introduced a new software technology for its AI chips called Flex:ai. It is an open-source tool that improves the utilization of artificial intelligence-based chipsets and helps developers attain top-grade AI training traits.
During a launch conference in Shanghai, Huawei launched the advanced software tech tool – Flex:ai to enhance AI chips. It stocks and organizes chips to extract more performance out of them.
Flex:ai is built upon an open-sourced platform, Kubernetes. It acts as a new frame for GPUs, NPUs, and other advanced chipsets. It integrates large groups of containerised (easy method to deploy or scale AI models across multiple servers) applications.
The company’s new software tool technology is capable of using a single card in several virtual computing segments and easing the AI workloads.
On the greener side, Flex:ai can boost the chip usage rate by 30%. It comes with Hi Sechduler that manages GPU and NPU allocation. Besides, it can arrange the chips accordingly to redistribute their power in the AI task.
Zhou Yuefeng, the Vice President and Head of Huawei Data Storage Product Line, said:
Smaller tasks rarely use up a single card’s capability, while bigger ones can not be handled by just one, and parallel tasks make compute management harder.
”Getting AI to work in real-world settings is tough. Huawei’s engineers can’t do it alone.”
In simple words, the Flex:ai technology can optimize the usage of chips and speed up the democratisation of AI. Sources further reveal that the new software tool will help China create an analogue AI chip 1000 times faster than Nvidia’s chips.
