Ayar Labs Secures Series E Funding For AI Scale-Up
Ayar Labs, the startup working on co-packaged optics chips, just scored $500 million in Series E funding. Now the company’s worth $3.8 billion. Some big investors joined in—Neuberger Berman, MediaTek, Qatar Investment Authority, Alchip Technologies, ARK Invest, Insight Partners, Sequoia Capital, and 1789 Capital all threw their hats in. Even NVIDIA and AMD, two heavyweights in the industry, joined as strategic partners.
CEO Mark Wade says this money tackles one of AI’s toughest roadblocks: moving data fast enough between processors. Right now, copper connections just can’t keep up—they’re hitting their physical and energy limits. Optical links are different.
